Rotterdam – September 13, 2011 – Momac, a leading provider of mobile solutions, recently released iPhone and Android versions of an engaging new app for Dutch media brand PowNed. Designed to encourage user interaction, the PowNews app connects audience members with PowNed staff and enables the audience to participate in the news gathering process.
Users capture the latest news happening around them and send it to PowNed staff via the PowNews app as audio or video files, pictures or Internet links. Managing Director of Momac in the Netherlands, Joost Goeree explains that the idea behind the new app was to allow the audience to become active participants in broadcast media.
“Not only can users send news tips to the media team at PowNed, they can also watch the latest broadcasts and link to the PowNed site,” Goeree says. “It is a very straightforward media app that provides television broadcasts and also involves audience members in the coverage of news.”
Targeted particularly at under-40s labelled the “network generation,” PowNed embodies an alternative take on media, providing a space for users to interact with each other by way of TV, Internet and mobile phones. Audience members are encouraged not only to become major news contributors but also to talk back and make their opinions known, becoming both the source and audience of news.
The new PowNews app adds yet another dimension to its coverage, extending the PowNed brand to Dutch-speaking iPhone and Android users around the world.
