- 2-B Energy is a Dutch company working to develop a new offshore wind turbine design with lower capital and operating costs. The new design relies on technology that should result in significant Cost of Energy (COE) savings of between 27% and 48%, according to preliminary engineering analysis. Among other novel aspects, the design concept is focused on reducing the overall lifecycle costs of the machine and takes into consideration not just the capital cost of the equipment but also its installation and operational costs and performance in an offshore environment.
- Following an investment by Trufffle Capital of €1.5 million, 2-B Energy is progressing towards its goal of offering a new approach to the global market for offshore wind, which is entering a period of sustained growth with both wind power developers and owners seeking ways to improve their returns and reduce risks.
